Welcome to Macarthur Parents

MWLP is committed to supporting Macarthur parents and families and encourages parents, carers and grandparents to regularly visit this website to view up-to-date information and opportunities to engage with child development experts and other parents. As an MWLP initiative, this site has been created for you as a parent, carer and grandparent to find career information, connect with other parents, find out what’s happening in the local community, connect with career professionals and become a partner in learning.

It has been proven that Parents play a crucial and important role in the education of their children. Your involvement and encouragement will assist your child to excel in any chosen career choice they may be interested in. Macarthur Parents encourages you to take an active role in the education and transition of your child in providing important resources to support your involvement.

As a parent, carer or grandparent you can help your child with career decisions, further educational planning, and goal setting and make a lasting positive impact on your child’s potential success. Our articles, resources, links and career advice can help guide you through these changes as your child becomes an independent adult.

You can help your child by being positive about their ideas and their chances of finding a enjoyable career path. Consider together their suitability for different jobs and help them identify their ATTRIBUTES, INTERESTS, and EXPERIENCES. Talk to them about their HOPES, VISIONS and DREAMS for the future and where they would like to work or study. There are many pathways now a day when leaving school to work that can lead into rewarding careers. It is important to remember that people will move between pathways and are not locked into one occupation or education level. It’s easy to move from work to study, TAFE to university, or Apprenticeship/Traineeship into a long term professional Career.

Many studies show that young people cite their parents most frequently as the main influence in their pathways. No other group even comes close”

 Effective Partnerships for Macarthur Parents has been created in partnership with local community groups, Business and Industry, Education providers and Parents and families. This partnership works to achieve outcomes by engaging with parents and families to enhance their awareness of opportunities for young people.

To achieve such outcomes, each partner plays a vital role in providing this information on a regular basis and working together to provide professional development, workshops and seminars at no cost. We believe each parent, grandparent and carer should have access to receive information and resources that are readily available so they can enhance their understanding to assist their young person throughout school and beyond.

“The commitment of our partners is truly outstanding. Without them this initiative would not be achievable. This partnership has demonstrated some exceptional events over the last two years. It’s wonderful to see the opportunities that have occurred since this partnership has started and how our  community really comes together to work together in benefiting our young people, after all they are our future”

Amber Hope, Partnership Broker

A bit about us

Parents and families participating in partnerships that provide an informed and supportive environment for all young people to enable lifelong learning and career and pathway planning, and improve their education and transition outcomes. was launched in July 2010 as part of a new initiative created by the local Partnership Broker. Within creating this partnership, the Broker sourced relevant organisations that would not only benefit from the partnership, but would also have the opportunity to promote their services, resources and opportunities to all local parents, families and carers within the Macarthur Region.

As the partnership developed over the last two years, the Partnership Broker has worked closely with partners to create a Management Group that will oversee, manage and work together in this partnership to achieve;

  • Engagement with parents and families to enhance their awareness of opportunities for young people
  • Encourage parental involvement as partners in learning
  • Assist parents and families to better access local facilities, people and resources
  • Facilitate partnerships and projects that engage and value parents as partners in learning

The partnership has created a Management Group that meet monthly to discuss and create partnerships that will better outcome our young people by engaging all parents, families and our community. These partners are actively working together, sourcing new resources, partners and opportunities for our parents, families and grandparents within the Macarthur Region.
